Traumatic Brain Injury

We are Survivors!  We wish to be heard and understood!  Help us live a better life for.........KNOWLEDGE is life!

This site is dedicated to survivors and all who wish to learn more about traumatic brain injury  (tbi).  Spread your your minds.........and learn.

Just A Note For All Who Have Entered.

I've tried to place a lot of things in one area so you won't have to spend months researching as I have had to do since my brain injury.  There is such a vast amount of information out there, just knowing where to find it and being able to read and understand it can be a major draw back.  I've tried to link you to a few to get you started and help you understand.

Traumatic Brain Injury is a life long trauma.  The initial damage is not always the only damage.  It is a daily struggle of finding SELF.   Something which most of us have left behind somewhere.  We are usually aware that person existed "somewhere", we just don't know where they went.  To know that you are physically the same look the same.....but somehow deep inside you know that you are NOT the same person you once knew is one of the hardest struggles we will ever have to make in our lives.

How you accept yourself and your brain injury can make or break you.  There will be questions that you won't know how to ask, and answers that you just can't seem to find.  SEARCH for them!  Don't EVER give up until you have them in the palm of your hand!  Then stand back and try to ask yourself, "Is this the answer I was looking for?"  "Can I live with this decision?"  CAN YOU?  Only YOU can answer that question.  Only YOU may know when and if you've found what you've been looking for.

And while you're asking yourself these questions remember people die from lack of KNOWLEDGE.  This statement wasn't only directed at those in the Bible, it stands true in everything.  Don't be the one who doesn't question when your gut tells you that something isn't right.  It's that lack of knowledge that may be the turning point in your life.  And when you feel like you're just going crazy?  Look for others that have been there before you.  SEEK them out and ASK!  Those questions will never be laughed at by another tbi survivor, for we have all been there before.  We know the pain, the frustration, the inability that wasn't there "before" the trauma.  Don't be afraid.  Don't shut yourself in.  SPEAK OUT!  For it is through OUR voices that we help ourselves and those who will follow in our steps.  WE are the SURVIVORS!  WE must be heard!

God bless you and keep you all safe and resting in His gentle hands.

By using the links on the left you can navigate around the site.  Use your "back" button to return to this page, or the link provided on each page.  Each link will take you to that particular subject, and each link is in alphabetical order for your convenience once you reach the subject page.  There are links at the top of the page also where you will find BI Homepages, Drug and Search Engines, Greeting Cards and much more.  There is also a link for the Mailing List in case you'd like to be notified of new updates or important information that I have found.  I hope you find it easy to navigate.

You can scroll down to the bottom and turn the sound off of this page if you prefer.  I haven't added any sounds to the other pages, but you may find a page or two that are linked to another site that have music, so don't be shocked.  By that time you may be glad to hear a little music!

I do remember what it was like when I first got hurt.  In therapy I had to listen to someone read to me while they had music playing in the background.  That was really rough at first, but as time went by I got better at it all.  They even made me shuffle cards while I listened to a short story, then had to repeat certain details back to them.  OH!  They just didn't realize how hard that was!  If you practice long enough you will find you desensitize your hearing (some of the purpose they made me do those things above in therapy), and will slowly be able to incorporate music and sounds back into your life.

Music is part of my life because I'm a musician.  For that reason I have music on my original version of the web site.  I have gone back through my original web site and added a clickable link so you can turn off the music of each page if you prefer.

Thanks again for visiting!  Don't forget to sign my guestbook and let me know how you like this version.  Have a great day!
